REFERENCE SAMPLE SO-3R
The standard sample SO-3R is used when testing with an ultrasonic flaw detector to determine:
– the angle of introduction of ultrasonic vibrations;
– the width of the main lobe of the beam pattern of the inclined transducer;
– pulse conversion factor during the control of rail metal or metal close to it in terms of acoustic properties;
– arrows of the converter.
According to its design and functional purpose, the standard sample SO-3R, as it were, combines samples SO-2 and SO-3 .
Specifications:
– made of steel grade 20 according to or steel grade 3 according to GOST 14637;
– the velocity of propagation of a longitudinal wave in the sample material at a temperature of 20±5 °C is 5900±118 m/s;
– on the side surface of the sample, a scale of values of the beam entry angle from 0° to 70° is applied;
-geometric dimensions comply with the requirements of GOST 18576
