Recently, there has been a significant increase in interest in creating methods for controlling the structure of an object without using close contact with it. Leading manufacturers are developing technologies for monitoring the parameters of the electromagnetic field potential, offering consumers their new products. Among these technologies, the most common technology is magnetic control. Magnetic control is successfully used to diagnose the quality of pipelines and other parts made of ferromagnetic materials.
Why do you need magnetic control?
Internal material defects that occur during the manufacture and operation of structural elements of industrial facilities can lead to fairly large-scale accidents and, as a result, huge financial losses.
Numerous studies have been carried out to establish the relationship between the mechanical characteristics of ferromagnetic materials and the parameters of their magnetic state. Therefore, the implementation of such monitoring is currently possible using the magnetic method, as the most sensitive to structural changes in the metal.
The purpose of the method is to identify scattered magnetic fluxes that often occur in the pipes of boiler heating surfaces and can cause enormous damage.
With the help of magnetic testing, only defects in pipes made of ferromagnetic alloys containing the following metals can be recognized:
- iron;
- nickel;
- cobalt.
Using this method of pipe diagnostics, it is possible to detect even the smallest defects that are difficult to detect in other ways. It is noteworthy that for this method there is no need to use bulky equipment, as well as to stop production processes for a long time. The whole procedure is carried out extremely quickly, providing a reliable result on the condition of the pipes.
Advantages of magnetic control:
Here are just a few of the main advantages for which the magnetic control method is valued:
- Low labor intensity;
- High performance;
- Reliable detection of superficial and deeper defects.
If defects are found in a timely manner, you avoid many risks, including such serious ones as a threat to the health and life of your employees. Therefore, such events should not be shelved – momentary savings can result in big expenses!
